The StatET R plug-in for Eclipse

  1. Install the plug-inBR

    • quite easy: from the menu bar of Eclipse: Help/Software Updates/Find and Install/Search for new features to install/New remote site
    • fill-in the plug-in name ("StatET") and the URL from which the plug-in is downloaded;BR

  2. Configure the plug-inBR

    • a plug-in manual is provided at: www.splusbook.com/Rintro/R_Eclipse_StatET.pdf ("A guide to Eclipse and the R plug-in StatET"),m and it is supposed to contain all the info to do it;
    • however, having installed Eclipse 3.3 IDE on Mac, the interface items mentioned in the manual were not exactly mapping to the interface items in my Eclipse interface;BR thus, I am recapitulating what you need to do, according to the manual, but using Eclipse 3.3 IDE for Mac:

      1. the editor should be already fully functional B. what you need to configure is the connection to the R executables, in order to be able to execute R code within eclipse
        • go to the menu bar Eclipse/Preferences/StatET/R interaction/R environments/addBR provide a name, and the location of your executable R files; on my Mac, the location is: /Library/Frameworks/R.framework/Versions/.../Resources; you may refer to the R FAQ for Mac for more details
